Matsumoto is at the base of the Japanese alps, our destination is on the other side of the mountains. So we coached up and down mountainous roads seeing the most spectacular scenery.
There is considerable reliance on hydo electricity so we saw many dams.
It seems to be an area people die to ski at.
On the other side of the mountains is Takayama where small streets and many of the original woodern houses still exist.
Checked out the original government buildings first which was surrounded by a great Japanese garden.
It was not wise to deliver a message saying you could not pay your taxes as they had a torture room
The little streets had many food stalls and Sake bars.
You knew who had good food as the Japanese don't seem to mind forming a que.
Our last stop for the afternoon was an old folk villiage showing how life was.
There was even some local wildlife.
It is time for a Sake so we head off to the hotel.
